About Two Step Moving

Who we are and what makes us different

Who is Two Step Moving Company?

Two Step Moving is a licensed and insured moving company based in San Antonio, TX. We serve residential, apartment, commercial, and specialty moving customers across San Antonio and surrounding communities in Bexar County and the Texas Hill Country. We operate under USDOT 4332000 and TxDMV 010049340C.

Is Two Step Moving licensed and insured in Texas?

Yes. Two Step Moving is fully licensed and insured, operating under:

You can verify our USDOT number directly on the FMCSA website. Our coverage applies to all moves — residential, apartment, commercial, and specialty — throughout San Antonio and Bexar County.

What makes Two Step Moving different from other movers in San Antonio?

Three things stand out:

  • Specialty capability: We are one of the few licensed, full-service movers in San Antonio equipped to handle specialty items — pianos, safes, pool tables, oversized furniture — as part of a regular move. No second company needed.
  • Transparent pricing: We give hourly quotes with a price range based on the items involved and we also have a "not to exceed" price.
  • On-time reliability: We show up at the confirmed time. For apartment moves with elevator reservation windows, that's not optional — it's the job.

Pricing & Quotes

How we price moves and what to expect

How much does it cost to hire movers in San Antonio, TX?

Moving costs in San Antonio depend on the size of your home or apartment, the number of movers needed, hours worked, distance, floor access (elevator vs. stairwells), and whether packing is included. Two Step Moving provides free, no-obligation quotes specific to your move — not a generic estimate from a website calculator.

Call (210) 405-2499 or request a quote online to get your actual price before your move day.

Does Two Step Moving charge by the hour or give flat-rate quotes?

Two Step Moving charges by the hour with a fully itemized quote provided before your move day. Your quote includes the hourly labor rate per mover, number of movers, estimated hours, drive time, and any additional services such as packing or specialty item handling.

Are there any hidden fees with Two Step Moving?

No. Two Step Moving does not add charges for stairs, heavy items, extra boxes, fuel surcharges, or any other line item that was not disclosed in your quote. Every cost is itemized in writing before move day. If something changes after your quote — such as a floor change or additional items — we discuss it before adjusting the price. Never after.

Does Two Step Moving charge extra for stairs or elevators?

Stairwells add time to a move, which is factored into the labor estimate in your quote. We do not add a stairwell surcharge on move day that was not disclosed upfront. Elevator access is faster than stairwells — both are accounted for in your estimate before you confirm. For apartments, we ask about floor level and elevator availability when you request your quote.

Booking & Scheduling

How and when to reserve your move date

How far in advance should I book movers in San Antonio?

For most residential and apartment moves, booking 2–4 weeks in advance is recommended — especially for weekends and summer months (May through August). End-of-month dates book fastest because most San Antonio apartment leases end on the last day of the month, creating high demand on those dates simultaneously.

For commercial moves and moves involving specialty items (pianos, safes, pool tables), 4–6 weeks of advance notice gives us more flexibility to plan the logistics. Call (210) 405-2499 to check current availability.

Does Two Step Moving offer weekend moves?

Yes. Two Step Moving serves Saturday only. Weekend dates fill faster than weekdays — especially end-of-month Saturdays when lease turnover in San Antonio is at its peak. Reserve your weekend date early to lock your slot.

Can I book a same-day or last-minute move?

Yes, when availability allows. Two Step Moving accommodates last-minute and same-day moves in San Antonio. Availability is more limited on weekends and end-of-month dates when demand is highest. Call (210) 405-2499 directly — we will give you a straight answer on whether we can make it work, not put you through an automated callback system.

How do I book a move with Two Step Moving?

Two ways:

  • Call: (210) 405-2499 — we'll discuss your move details, answer questions, and give you a quote on the call.
  • Online: Fill out the free quote form — we'll follow up to confirm your details and provide your written quote.

Once you confirm, you receive a written quote and move confirmation with your date, time, crew size, and price locked in.

Services

What we move and how we do it

What moving services does Two Step Moving offer?

Two Step Moving offers six core services:

Does Two Step Moving offer packing services?

Yes. Our professional packing services include full-home packing, partial packing (kitchen, bedroom, or fragile items only), and unpacking at your new address. We provide all packing materials — boxes, bubble wrap, packing paper, and furniture padding. Packing services are available as a standalone booking or as part of a full-service move.

What is labor-only moving?

Labor-only moving means you provide the moving truck, PODS container, trailer, or storage unit — and Two Step Moving provides the crew. We load, unload, carry, and arrange. You handle the driving and transport. This is a cost-effective option when you've already secured your own transportation and only need the physical labor and expertise.

Does Two Step Moving handle specialty items like pianos, safes, and pool tables?

Yes. Two Step Moving is one of the few licensed movers in San Antonio that handles specialty items as part of a full move or as standalone services. We move:

  • Pianos — upright (300–500 lbs), baby grand (500–700 lbs), concert grand (900–1,200 lbs)
  • Gun safes & vaults — up to approximately 1,600 lbs residential, including stairwells
  • Pool tables — full disassembly and reassembly required for slate tables
  • Gym equipment — treadmills, ellipticals, cable machines, weight racks
  • Oversized furniture — sectionals, king beds, entertainment centers
  • Antiques & collectibles — handled with white-glove care

See our specialty movers page for detailed weight and requirement information.

Does Two Step Moving offer commercial moving?

Yes. Two Step Moving handles office and commercial relocations in San Antonio. We move desks, office equipment, filing systems, furniture, and supplies — coordinating around your business hours and schedule to keep downtime as short as possible.

Does Two Step Moving offer storage?

Two Step Moving does not operate its own storage facility. If your move requires temporary storage between addresses, let us know during your quote call — we can advise on options that work with your move timeline and help coordinate access if needed.

Does Two Step Moving disassemble and reassemble furniture?

Yes. Basic furniture disassembly — bed frames, dining tables, large shelving units — is part of our standard service. For specialty items like pool tables, entertainment centers, and gym equipment, full disassembly and reassembly are included in your quoted price, not billed as an add-on after the fact.

Move Day

What to expect when the crew arrives

What should I do to prepare for move day?

The more prepared your home is before the crew arrives, the faster and smoother your move will be. Here's what to do:

  • Declutter first — only move what you actually need at your new address
  • Label every box with the destination room (e.g., "Master Bedroom," "Kitchen")
  • Disassemble large furniture if possible — bed frames, dining tables, shelving
  • Clear pathways from every room to the front door
  • If moving from an apartment, reserve the service elevator 24–72 hours ahead
  • Have your move confirmation and payment method ready
  • Be present or designate a point of contact at both the pickup and delivery address
Do I need to be present on move day?

Someone should be present or reachable by phone at both the pickup and delivery addresses to direct the crew on item placement, confirm walkthrough completion, and authorize the final sign-off. You do not need to physically move boxes or items — that is what our crew is there for. If you cannot be present yourself, designate a trusted person who has full authority to make decisions on your behalf.

How long does a move in San Antonio typically take?

Duration depends on home size, item volume, floor access, drive distance, and services included. General estimates:

  • Studio or 1BR apartment: 2–4 hours with 2 movers
  • 2BR apartment or small home: 4–6 hours with 2–3 movers
  • 3BR home: 6–8 hours with 3 movers
  • 4BR+ home: 8–12+ hours depending on volume and specialty items

Your quote includes a time estimate based on your specific move details — not a generic range.

What happens if something is damaged during my move?

Two Step Moving is fully licensed and insured under USDOT 4332000 and TxDMV 010049340C. If an item is damaged during a move we performed, contact us immediately at (210) 405-2499 and we will address it directly. We recommend documenting your belongings with photos before and after the move — this protects both you and us if any issue arises.

Do you protect floors and door frames during a move?

Yes. Two Step Moving uses floor runners, moving blankets, and door frame protection on every move. Protecting your property — at both the origin and destination — is part of how we work, not an optional add-on. For apartment moves with hardwood or tile floors, we bring appropriate floor protection to keep the building management and your security deposit intact.
